New build timber frame residential property, Preston
This detached residential property in Preston, Lancashire uses a timber frame construction. The project undertaken by the main contractor, Hamilton Construction Ltd, aimed to reflect the character of the conservation area. The new-build residential project used a factory manufactured zero carbon timber frame construction that was provided by Maple Timber Systems Ltd, it uses a highly insulated fully integrated building system.
After receiving planning permission to begin work in the conservation area on the greenfield site, the construction of the building began and took place over a 6 month period. Once the site had been cleared it was piled and reinforced concrete was used to form the foundations for a beam and block floor.
Following this, the factory manufactured timber frame arrived and was erected over a two week period followed by a tiled roof. The timber frame construction allowed the project to be completed over a shorter building time. Once the timber frame had been erected and the tile roof completed it allowed the internal work to be carried out in conjunction with the exterior of the building. External blockwork with a smooth render finish and feature stone band completed the external construction alongside timber sash windows and the feature door that was fitted. Hard and soft landscaping was employed for the surrounding areas of the building to provide the finishing touch.
